JOEL THOMAS
Over the past several years I have served in a variety of capacities which on the surface may appear unrelated but actually are very connected. After I received a B.A. in Business Non-Profit Management at Trinity International University, I worked for a small faith-based, non-profit as a project manager. Following that experience, my wife and I took a 6 month hiatus and travelled to 20 countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe where we served as volunteers in countries such as China, Indonesia, Sudan, and Israel. The world tour inspired me to learn more about government and emergency response, so we moved to Washington D.C. where I pursued a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from The George Washington University (Class ’08). While in school, I was employed full-time as a Community Director for GW Housing Programs where among other tasks I was a first responder in a densely populated urban campus environment. My eyes were opened to the world of first response as I was called to hundreds of incidents at all times of the day/night over a three year span. I have been a project manager with G&H International since 2008 where primarily I have provided technical assistance to states across the nation participating in Virtual USA pilots. If you'd like to learn more about the program please visit https://web.vusa.us. Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife Laura, my daughter Grace, family and friends at Capital City Church, playing drums, sports, and going on adventures. |
