On July 29, G&H's Joel Thomas co-facilitated a workshop at the White House that explored how social media can be used to improve situational awareness and emergency response efforts. Joel was involved in this workshop, which was part of the Innovation for Disaster Response and Recovery Initiative Demo Day, on behalf of the National Information Sharing Consortium (NISC). Information about the event, that included 6 workshops and multiple presentations, is availble on the White House Blog. Follow up steps from the event include collecting the challenge statements developed in the workshops and continuing the conversation with the first reponder community - in pursuit of improving disaster response and recovery nationwide.
